Hmm, I'm still not sure about the feminism in 21st century. Sometimes I really would prefer to be a kept woman only to indulge in my hobbies and parties and leave all the hard work to men... (well, I'd still like to vote etc. lol)

I think there were more disadvantages than just the lack of voting rights ;-) Not to mention that the kept woman who didn't have to work hard was a very rare breed indeed, namely those married to very wealthy men. And that was no guarantee of an easy or happy life either.

I had a conversation at work today in which 2 very lovely men both displayed a rather confronting lack of respect for the idea of a hypothetical small blond office girl. When this hypothetical girl was re-cast as the sister of one of these men he immediately switched to cringing about thinking of her as the target of sexual attention. I pointed out that any small blond girl could be someone's sister. He seemed a little taken aback. I really don't like the idea of my small blond daughter having to negotiate a world in which even the nicest of men think that way. That's only one reason why I think feminism is still of paramount importance.

You are very right, Mim. My comment was just a jest. I love my independance and demand respect from any men, not only the nice ones. There are still too many issues we have to fight for, especially as working mothers. Add to it a disabled child and things are all the more difficult, but that's another story. I do appreciate and respect what you're doing here.
