My morning had been going so well

I can't begin to tell you how much I hate lice. Why oh why is it that I discover the little buggers just when we're at the get hair done and we'll be ready to leave for school point? This morning is the third time that has happened to me. Suddenly we go from being well and truly on time - early even! - to rocking up to school 20 minutes late with wet hair all round. All 3 kids had a head full of creepy things, there was no way I could responsibly send them to school without treating them. Bugger, bugger, bugger. Anyway, must have been the quickest 3 way delousing I've ever done.

Of course I then spent the next few hours with my scalp itching like crazy and convinced I could feel something actually crawling around up there. I gave in at 1pm and did my own hair. Didn't find even one single bug.

Psychosomatic lice.

I think I hate them even more than the real ones....

....no, perhaps not.

Good day

It's been a bit of a lazy day today, Adam "worked" from home so I was still in my pj's when he took the kids to school. We did some planning together for getting things organised for the weeks ahead and bummed around the house doing nothing much.

After lunch we headed off to the school to watch Caitlin do her bit in the talent quest and you know, just quietly, she was fucking awesome. I was so very proud of her, she sang unaccompanied, her voice was strong and clear and I reckon she hit pretty much every note. On top of which, she, and all the other kids, were having to deal with a dodgy mic that kept dropping out every so often - they all managed incredibly well with that, just kept going without missing a beat.

The kids all had their hair cut this afternoon under varying degrees of duress. Caitlin wants hers to be long enough to sit on so she's adamant that only the bare minimum be trimmed off, David simply hates getting it done and winces every time the scissor come near. Tom had a new challenge for me this time, he decided he was immovably attached to a particular curl in the middle of his forehead. So I let him keep it.

Kudos to my wonderful hairdresser (who comes to my house to cut the kids' hair) on managing to make it look only slightly ridiculous!

There is lasagne cooking in the oven, the rainbow lorrikeets are on the back deck begging for food and all is well with the world. Good day :)

Huntsman season is upon us.

Adam and the kids were in the lounge room watching The Two Towers tonight while I hid in the study. There comes a call summoning me, daddy is no good, this is a job for mum. What job would that be I hear you ask? Huntsman spider removal of course. Adam does cockroaches, I do the spiders in this family. And here comes the good part, I now know I'm a real blogger because I made Adam get the camera and document the event.

First huntsman of the season

Aside from pest control duties, today I have bought birthday presents for Caitlin and Tom, booked Caitlin in to have her ears pierced (much to her surprise, I'd been giving the impression I was going to make her wait till she was 16) and got my hair cut and coloured. It's shorter than it's been in a while, the colour is burgundy with blonde foils.

New Hair

I seem to have broken the kids, David has blisters and Tom was in tears with leg cramps at school yesterday, so I thought better of making them walk to school this morning and it turns out I must have needed a break too because I haven't done the resistance workout or the treadmill walking instead of the walk to school that I intended to do today. Which is fine, I'll get back into it tomorrow.
