Sundays in My City

Unknown Mami
Hosted by Unknown Mami

Last Sunday I wasn't in a city, instead we had traveled back 1000 years and were in a pine forest near Armidale camping out for 4 nights with over 400 other people. I keep promising myself and others that I'll produce the definitive post-holiday post but I still haven't recovered enough for my brain to be up to the task, so you're getting a pictorial teaser instead.

The past is an awesome place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there all the time, as David noted, when we arrived at Cruickshanks Cottage for 4 days of farmstay bed and breakfast indulgence after the camp, that shower felt damn good.

Looks like fun, but I don't think I could do it. I'm a camping wimp.

What an unusual break! Your idea?

I am not a camping kind of girl, if the bathroom is not close by I start panicking. lol.

Have a fantastic day. xxx

Oh my! I don't know if I could do that either :) Maybe just for a few hours! I really, really, really enjoy indoor plumbing! : ) Awesome pictures though. So great!

Not just my idea - it's a mutual madness! We've only been doing historical reenactment for a few years and this is an event that happens every 2 years. Adam went to the last one but it was the first time for me and the kids.

It is awesome fun but I do find it a little challenging. At this camp we at least had port-a-loos with water on tap, the other camp we got to each year has only pit toilets and you have to bring all your water in with you, there's none available at the site. It's getting easier as our kit improves - this was the first time we've had the bed and that was fabulous.

I have to wonder how you fitted all that gear in your car - even if it was the new monster van. Especially the bed and the mattress. Which, BTW, look heavenly!

A bed in a tent! What a luxurious way to sleep...
Without a shower that many days...hm...would be difficult for me even if I like camping!

Happy 'Sunday in My City' greetings from Casablanca, Morocco - have a great week ahead!

wow!! does the bed dismantle easily then? We do airbeds when camping.. a real bed is a real luxury. I also miss showers. Bird baths are not quite the same.

The bed is held together with timber pegs stuck through holes so yep, it comes apart quite easily. The mattress, sadly, is airbeds, there's no way we could have fitted a real one in.

I had meant to take a photo of the van with all the gear packed in but completely failed to do so - I swear I'm changing its name to TARDIS, it's the first time there's been nothing under my feet in the passenger seat on a camping trip.

this looks like so much fun...being a fan of capming and all...no not really. I could do it when i was young, but wiht kids it's a pita, because there's too many unknown places they can get lost. i camped around oz for a year after school and that was a real blast. we were in Tanalorn years ago whenever that was, but it was a dust bowl and there were hardly amenities...i don't think they were expecting so many people...it was extremely unorganized for such a crowd. i would love to go to this, wonder if my friend went, i'll have to track down her blog. have a good one!

Oh ... I missed this on Monday. What a fabulous, if challenging, concept. I will chase it down and read up on the detail. Good images.
