This is the view from our office balcony.
If you click through to the larger image you can see a smattering of white gum-blossom in the tops of some of the trees.
That photo is a little over-exposed because I wanted to capture the greenery up close to our building, here's how the sky really looked today.
Even the car park at work makes me happy as I walk past the gardens full of new growth,
flowers blooming,
and snoozing Banksia men.
There's nothing like a bit of nostalgic reminiscence to brighten the afternoon. My copy of The Complete Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie was given to me on my 7th birthday by my Nana, my Dad's mum. She always gave me beautiful books as presents, usually purchased at The Children's Bookshop at Beecroft. Snugglepot and Cuddlepie is held together with yellowing sticky tape, testament to many re-reads.

Gorgeous photos Mim. I love your comment about the sleeping Banksia men, that is how they should be! Your copy of the Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie looks like the one that my sister and I had (my parents have it in their bookshelf at home still). I have two versions here in Italy as well, they are smaller books. I have just re-read the book, and want to get the kids to read it to. Incidentally my mum's cousin bought my sister and I lots of books from the children's bookshop at Beecroft. Happy memories Mim, thanks.
Where do you work? General location, not specific organisation - I appreciate the need for privacy. Even so, can I have a job there too?
Right here. Not bad hey? :-) It's about 25 minutes drive from home - I travel outside peak hour and against the main flow of traffic.
What a lovely post Mim! The photos are breathtaking (I have to keep reminding myself that when it's waxing on winter here, it's waxing on summer there!) and the photo of that well worn and deeply loved children's book says a lot about you. The treasures of our childhood are the building blocks of who we are forever. I shall now always think of you as a Snugglepot and a Cuddlpie! Thank you for the charming post.
Stunning and beautiful!!!!!
Mim, your post made for a perfect start to my day. Lovely.
Hee, I have that book too! I adored Snugglepot and Cuddlepie stories when I was a wee one. Gorgeous views; I think the bush and that landscape is one thing I miss most about home. That, and the east coast beaches.
Wow!!! Beautiful. I'm just finding my way here from Louise's blog.
That is your view from your office? Wow, that is a wonderful, wonderful view. And yes, you are so lucky you are headed towards summer now. Its so cold and dreadful in Denmark now. Have a great day. I love to see those bush-pictures.
completely unrelated, but here is that blog i told you about AGES ago! http://diaryofamadcow.com.au/ very funny lol!
Lovely view!
I'll have you know the bad Banksia men gave me nightmares for years after Mum & Dad read to us! And as for John Dory, well, I guess they didn't have the "Violence is NOT okay" message under the sea. ;-)
